Atlanta Braves @ Tampa Bay Rays - 6:40 PM EST

  • Charlie Morton (ATL) vs Tyler Glasnow (TB)

  • Line: Rays +100, Braves -120

  • Pick: Atlanta Braves ML (-120)

The two best teams in baseball square off in what should be a very exciting series. Braves are 9-1 in their last 10 and they show no signs of slowing down. They have the star power to make a very serious run this postseason and it’s hard to bet against them right now as Olson, Acuña, Albies, and Murphy continue to demolish homeruns. While Glasnow is a big strikeout guy, he is also prone to giving up the long ball this year, look for him to give up some to the team leading the league in homers.

New York Mets @ San Diego Padres - 9:40 PM EST

  • Justin Verlander vs Yu Darvish

  • Line: Mets +115, Padres -135

  • Pick: San Diego Padres ML (-135)

For the highest and third-highest payrolls in the MLB, it has been two disappointing seasons to say the least. However, it’s only a matter of time before this talented Padres team figures out its clubhouse issues and starts winning games. Anticipate a pitcher’s duel betwee Darvish and Verlander, but I predict Yu Darvish will have his way with the Mets lineup and the Padres’ bats will do just enough to get the win at home.

Chicago Cubs @ New York Yankees - 7:05 PM EST

  • Jameson Taillon (CHI) vs Carlos Rodon (NYY)

  • Line: Cubs +150, Yankees -178

  • Pick: New York Yankees ML (-178)

Carlos Rodon was absolutely nasty in his 3 rehab starts in the Minors – posting a 0.84 ERA across 10.2 innings, while striking out 17. Look for have a sharp outing in his first game back from IL. On the other side we have Jameson Taillon, who owns a measly 2-6 record with a career high 6.93 ERA. With the Cubs falling further in the NL Central standings and a favorable pitching matchup for the Yanks, look for them to roll over the Cubs in front of a rowdy New York crowd on Friday night.

Cincinnati Reds @ Milwaukee Brewers - 8:10 PM EST

  • Andrew Abbott (CIN) vs Corbin Burnes (MIL)

  • Line: Reds E, Brewers -120

  • My Pick: Cincinnati Reds ML (E)

While left-handed rookie pitcher Andrew Abbott has been absolutely lights out in his first four career starts, Corbin Burnes hasn’t been at all close to his CY-Young award-winning self this season. The reds are young and they play with passion. Led by rookie bats Elly De La Cruz and Matt McLain, and anchored by veteran Joey Votto, they’ve got something special going over in Cincy. Expect the red-hot Reds to take down the Brewers.

Baltimore Orioles @ Minnesota Twins - 8:10 PM EST

  • Cole Irvin (BAL) vs Bailey Ober (MIN)

  • Line: Orioles +110, Twins -130

  • My Pick: Minnesota Twins

The Orioles have won 3 of the last 4 games in which Irvin has started, yet he has posted a 6.32 ERA this season. The Orioles will have a chance if he can give them 5-6 solid innings and leave the game in the hands of shutdown relievers Cano and Bautista who each hold WHIPs under 1.00. That’s a big “if”, however, don’t expect Irvin to eat up a lot of innings. The Twins are 6-4 in their last 10, and Bailey Ober’s previous start was a gem against the O’s – he fanned 8 batters across 7.0 innings, allowing 0 runs on 2 hits. Expect the young Oriole bats to wake up a little more on Friday, but I predict Ober to come away with another win.
